There can be a lot of misinformation out there especially on the internet.  Today we tackle 7 Myths About Solariums to set the record straight.

  1. Humans don’t need UV….Every living thing needs UV to survive. Vitamin D comes from UV exposure and is vital to a healthy body.
  2. You must use a tanning cream to go brown…..All skin will tan under UV. Accelerators reduce fade and deepen the tan whilst moisturising.
  3. Lay down tanning beds are better than stand up….Stand Up solariums have slightly stronger UV bulbs but both tan effectively. Lay down beds have a low wattage face tanning section.
  4. You should keep clothes on in the solarium…..The most effectively way to tan and/ore eliminate tan lines is to expose all the body to the UV.
  5. Eyes must be kept closed while in the Solarium…..Just as wearing sunglasses reduces glare, goggles are provided to protect your eyes against the bright lights in the solarium.
  6. Solariums can only be used sparingly and short term…..Every 48 hours would be maximum usage to gain a deep tan then cut back to once or twice a week to maintain colour.
  7. Those with problem skin should not use solarium……Psoriasis, Eczema & Acne all benefit from UV exposure.
