There can be a lot of misinformation out there especially on the internet. Today we tackle 7 Myths About Solariums to set the record straight.
- Humans don’t need UV….Every living thing needs UV to survive. Vitamin D comes from UV exposure and is vital to a healthy body.
- You must use a tanning cream to go brown…..All skin will tan under UV. Accelerators reduce fade and deepen the tan whilst moisturising.
- Lay down tanning beds are better than stand up….Stand Up solariums have slightly stronger UV bulbs but both tan effectively. Lay down beds have a low wattage face tanning section.
- You should keep clothes on in the solarium…..The most effectively way to tan and/ore eliminate tan lines is to expose all the body to the UV.
- Eyes must be kept closed while in the Solarium…..Just as wearing sunglasses reduces glare, goggles are provided to protect your eyes against the bright lights in the solarium.
- Solariums can only be used sparingly and short term…..Every 48 hours would be maximum usage to gain a deep tan then cut back to once or twice a week to maintain colour.
- Those with problem skin should not use solarium……Psoriasis, Eczema & Acne all benefit from UV exposure.
